What lies behind the surge of interest in new ways of working across the public sector? Central to this interest is the imperative to maintain or improve services whilst managing with reduced budgets.
For many of today's public servants work is not just what they do but it is the place in which they do it. However, greater flexibility of work styles combined with and supported by new technologies, new office designs, and changes to organisational culture have the potential to create an environment where work is carried out anytime and anywhere, to the benefit of the citizen, the organisation and the public sector worker.
